
After an exciting night filled with live performances and entertainment, Remone Watson was crowned the winner of Season 19 of the ‘Digicel Rising Stars’ competition.
The 20-year-old, who is a show player at Sandals Montego Bay, won the title during finale on Sunday night. He received a cash prize of J$1.5 million, a smartphone, and credit courtesy of Digicel.
Watson was both excited and speechless when he won the competition, expressing to the newly minted host of the competition, Talia Soares, that he wanted to cry.
He closed the night out with a heartfelt performance of Barry White’s Practice What You Preach.
Jhanelle ‘Lady J’ Thompson secured the second place spot, taking home a cash prize of J$600,000, a smartphone, and credit. Sashae Evans secured the third place and received J$400,000, a smartphone, and credit.
The Season 19 finale was filled with performances that had spectators rocking and grooving in their seats. The show was opened by the top 10 finalists who performed Knew You Were Waiting by American singer Aretha Franklin and English singer George Michael. Gospel singer Kevin Downswell also graced the stage, performing his songs All I Want is You and Grace.
Mozein Sutherland, the winner of Season 18, returned to centre stage to perform Johnny Gill’s My My My.
