Restaurants of Jamaica (ROJ) has rolled back prices for popular KFC products, including the Chicken Box, Meal Deal, and the Big Deal, due to the $12.50 per kg price cut by Jamaica Broilers two weeks ago.
In a statement on its social media pages, ROJ said this reduction does not apply to the Zinger, Hot Wings, Popcorn Chicken or Krisper menu items.
While the ROJ announcement did not indicate by how much prices would be reduced, regular KFC customers told Our Today this afternoon that they had noticed reductions of between $5 and $10 on specific meals.
The company said it has “absorbed or delayed” some of the increases it received from suppliers over the past two years, although many Jamaicans recall a steady increase in prices throughout the pandemic.
“We welcomed this reduction as a step in the right direction and we look forward to more significant reductions as the global market continues to stabilise. ROJ will continue to monitor the local and global supply requirements and will continue sharing the benefits of supplier price cuts with our customers,” said ROJ in the post.
Prices of certain KFC products have increased by over J$300 since the onset of the pandemic.
Representatives of ROJ, when contacted by Our Today over the past week about the steps the company was taking towards price reductions and customer retention, acknowledged they were in receipt of the questions submitted, but have yet to respond.
