Restaurants of Jamaica (ROJ) is enjoying a rave response to its most recently opened Pizza Hut location in Harbour View, St Andrew.

After investing approximately $130 million into the construction of the new hot spot, ROJ has seen massive interest from residents and commuters passing through the community.

This, however should come as no surprise as ROJ, in April 2019, opened a KFC location in the community which, until the COVID-19 pandemic saw packed crowds daily on the inside and lines stretching out to the parking from the drive thru.

Though the measure have had to be put in place to limit the numbers allowed inside KFC since the pandemic, the drive thru line has remained much the same, proving that Harbour View is indeed a viable location for major fast food outlets, despite the failure of others in the past.

The opening of the new Pizza Hut location on December 30 brought the number of restaurants operated by ROJ to 53, including 39 KFC and 14 Pizza Hut outlets.

“Opening two new restaurants within the space of three weeks speaks to our continued commitment to growth and investment in our nation and to creating employment for our fellow Jamaicans.”

Mark Myers, managing director of Restaurants of Jamaica

In a statement, ROJ said the new Pizza Hut location would provide 35 new jobs and “comes on the heels of a $200 million investment by ROJ to construct its KFC restaurant in Junction, which saw 43 jobs created in that community”.

The KFC restaurant in Harbour View also came at a cost of $200 million and created 55 jobs.

“The Pizza Hut brand has been warmly welcomed by the people of Harbour View and we are extremely happy to now be a part of the community,” said ROJ Managing Director Mark Myers.

“Opening two new restaurants within the space of three weeks speaks to our continued commitment to growth and investment in our nation and to creating employment for our fellow Jamaicans.”

Matalon also hinted ROJ would be bringing more to the Harbour View community, where the Harbour View shopping complex has been undergoing extensive renovations over the past year and the introduction of other popular establishments such as Devon House Ice Cream.
