Normal flight operations have resumed at the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay following a disruption Sunday afternoon due to minor damage to the main runway.

Airport authorities disclosed in a social media post that the runway is now open for the arrival of flights.

On Sunday, Seven inbound flights were diverted to the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston, and two flights were cancelled after the damage was discovered and the runway closed at approximately 1:45 pm, Vaz said.

The diverted flights eventually resumed their journey to the Sangster International Airport, according to Transport Minister Daryl Vaz.

Vaz told media outlets on Sunday that damage would have been fixed then to facilitate the resumption of normal operations at the St James airport.
