Hot on the heels of its remittance feature release, Lynk is gearing up to promote ‘safety first’ at this year’s staging of UWI Carnival, the first since the onset of COVID-19.
Lynk’s partnership will be tied to a campus wide initiative called the UWI Carnival Safety and Security Campaign – a part of the university community’s drive to keep students safe by enabling cashless transactions at the ticket booths and bars by using Lynk.
As a sponsor, Jamaica’s leading digital wallet will be enhancing the events, held under the theme Ethereal Experience, by offering a convenient, cashless payment option.
Lynk has partnered with Campus Elite to execute deals and convenient services throughout the events and at merchants on campus. This includes a partnership with Juici Patties on the UWI campus to offer discounted prices on various items.

“As we bring Carnival back to UWI campus, it’s important that we prioritise revellers safety to enable them to have the best experience possible. Safety is at the core of the Lynk app and we are committed to bringing the vibes as students ‘Fete wid Lynk’ safely,” said Kemoi Burke, brand and sponsorship manager at Lynk.
“We are looking at the ecosystem as a whole and showing students how they can get their remittances from family abroad or transfers from family locally, and spend that money at events and business places on campus without ever having to pull cash – it’s a safe and convenient experience,” Burke added.
The lineup for this year’s carnival includes the Launch Party, Carnival Ring Road, Jouvert, Carnival Beach and a new event entitled Ring Road D’After Mas which will be uniquely focused on bringing a safe, secure and out-of-this-world experience to university students.
“We are very excited to be partnering with Lynk as we launch the UWI Carnival Safety and Security Campaign. This campaign is a priority for us, as we are an agency focused on student welfare and opportunities and our aim is to provide students with a safe and secure 2023 carnival experience.”

Revellers can access discounted tickets through Campus Elite when they pay with Lynk. ‘Di Money App’ will also offer its ‘Pay with Lynk’ experience at select events with quick checkout bars. Other on campus merchants currently accepting Lynk includes Social Welfare, RnR Mini Mart and Campus Foods.

“With the services that Lynk and Rush Alert provide, this partnership was a no-brainer for us to be able to provide multiple layers of safety and security for attendees of UWI Carnival Ring Road D’After Mas.”
