The battle for a top-six playoff spot heats up as rivals Tivoli Gardens and Arnett Gardens scored important wins over Spanish Town Police and Harbour View on Monday in the Wray and Nephew Jamaica Premier League.
Tivoli Gardens secured their win courtesy of an own goal in stoppage time by Lamor Davis in the 90th minute.
It was their sixth win from 15 games, and they consolidated sixth spot on 22 points. They are three points ahead of the chasing pack, trying to catch them for the last playoff spot.
It was the 11th defeat for Spanish Town Police, and they remained firmly at the bottom of the 14-team league with eight points from 15 games. They have now conceded 40 goals, the most in the league.
Meanwhile, former champions Arnett Gardens blanked Harbour View 2-0 with two goals by veteran Fabian Reid in the 13th and 35th minutes.
That win propelled Arnett Gardens to their sixth win and jumped two places into seventh spot on 19 points, while Harbour View slipped into the relegation zone in 13th spot on 14 points.
The 2022 champions are in real danger of relegation, and head coach Vassell Reynolds and his assistant Keon Broderick have their hands full turning things around for Harbour View.
