The cyber-attack was confirmed after the media group determined that some information technology systems were affected by a cybersecurity incident on its network. Upon discovery of the matter, the company activated its incident response protocols, including taking systems offline out of an abundance of caution to secure its network.
The company promptly engaged leading international cybersecurity experts under its existing insurance program to support the investigation and remediation efforts. RJRGLEANER group also implemented its established business contingency plans to maintain operations.
The Group has notified relevant authorities and will continue to comply with applicable legal and regulatory obligations. The company is in the early stages of its investigation and assessment of the event and will continue to evaluate the extent of the impact on operations.
As information security is a top priority for RJRGLEANER, the company continues to take appropriate measures to safeguard the integrity of its information technology systems. Jamaica recorded over 34.4 million cyberattack attempts in the first half of 2025, according to Fortinet’s Global Threat Landscape report.
These attacks frequently targeted critical sectors, including manufacturing, telecommunications, healthcare, and finance, with hackers utilizing AI-powered tools such as FraudGPT and WormGPT. The high volume of attacks indicates a significant surge in digital threats against the island in 2025, driven by automated and increasingly sophisticated tactics.
