Road traffic injuries remain a leading cause of death in adolescents and young adults in Jamaica.
According to the Island Traffic Authority, Jamaica recorded a total of 170 road fatalities up to Thursday, May 30, resulting from some 146 fatal collisions.
Motorcyclists, pedestrians, and private motor vehicle drivers contribute to the highest number of road users killed since the start of the year.
Pedestrians and motorcyclists are considered vulnerable road users because they have little to no protection in the event of an accident.
It is important for both these vulnerable road users and motorists to follow the rules of the road at all times to ensure they walk, ride, or drive to their destination alive.
