Robert Almeida has replaced Patrick Hylton as chairman of Guardian Holdings Limited (GHL), which is majority owned by Michael Lee-Chin’s NCB Financial Group.

Almeida was recently installed as interim group CEO of NCB Financial Group, again replacing Hylton, who vacated that position in the recent management shake-up at the Jamaican banking conglomerate.

The appointment of Almeida to the chairmanship of the Trinidadian based regional insurance giant, Guardian Group was made by the board of directors at its meeting on August 4. The appointment was made with immediate effect.

In a statement, the board welcomed Almeida as chairman having already been serving as a board member. He joined the board in 2019 as an investor, business executive and a director.

As an investor, Almeida along with Lee-Chin-founded Portland Private Equity, a leading manager of private equity funds focused on the Caribbean and Latin American region and a director, senior vice president and portfolio manager at Portland Investment Counsel Inc., which is a regulated investment fund manager in Canada.

In the meantime, the Guardian board took the opportunity to profoundly thank Hylton for his invaluable contribution during his tenure.
