The management of Royal Negril has decided to increase its employees salary packages in response to Monday’s protest by staff members.

The workers will see immediate salary increases, along with an additional $40,000 in gratuity.

Management has also committed to enhancing working conditions by installing a gym and barbershop for staff use and improving the quality of meals provided at the staff canteen.

This decision came after an emergency meeting with Daniel Lozano, senior vice president of Blue Diamond International (Royalton), staff members, and stakeholders from the Ministry of Tourism, including Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett, on Wednesday.

The protest was sparked by staff frustrations over communication regarding compensation and working conditions, leading to calls for the removal of the general manager.

Following the meeting, the general manager was suspended, and some staff have since threatened to resign if the general manager is reinstated.

Guests at the hotel have expressed support for the employees, condemning the management’s practices.

The Royalton Resorts are owned by Sunwing Travel Group, a Canadian travel agency. The luxury resorts are located in Mexico, Jamaica, and Saint Lucia.
