RUBiS Energy Jamaica Limited (REJL) has proudly announced the opening of its Catherine Hall, Montego Bay location in St James.

This new facility offers premium fuel and a contemporary convenience store.

The official grand opening, attended by customers and partners, highlighted RUBiS’s commitment to community engagement. The company is expected to open two more new service stations in the next two years, as part of the company’s ambitious growth strategy.

Chief Executive Officer Michel Malatino made the disclosure at the grand opening of the company’s 49th service station, located in Catherine Hall, Montego Bay, on October 6. The station was completed at a cost of US$1.3 million (J$200 million).

“We have an ambitious network development plan, which involves opening of several new service stations to further cover the territory of the whole island of Jamaica,” he said, at the event.

Malatino explained that the intention of the company, which is celebrating its 10th year in Jamaica, is to further contribute to the growth of the economy and add employment to the existing network, following the completion of these new service stations.

“Every time that we build a new station, we create new jobs, and contribute to the development of the economy. We have currently in our network approximately 1,600 Jamaicans employed,” he said.

Since its acquisition of the previously owned Shell service stations in 2013, RUBiS Energy has been investing in upgrading its network of stations. Over the past year, REJL has embarked on a significant investment in the solarisation of its network and other assets. This project aims to promote energy efficiency and reduce its carbon footprint. Furthermore, it aligns with the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) roadmap for the next three years.

This initiative is a testament to REJL’s commitment to creating a more sustainable future.
