Since the passage of Hurricane Melissa, RUBiS Energy Jamaica’s teams have been working steadily to restore operations, ensuring that essential fuel remains available to emergency services, telecommunications providers, and utility companies.
Most sites in Montego Bay and other affected areas have resumed service, with the Westgate location now operating 24 hours to meet urgent demand.
RUBiS Energy Jamaica CEO Michel Malatino visited the affected areas shortly after the storm passed to meet with teams, assess their needs, and personally reaffirm the company’s support as they work to rebuild. He stated, “Visiting allowed me to understand the challenges team members and their communities are facing. The company remains committed to providing the support necessary for them to recover and rebuild.”
RUBiS Energy Jamaica has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting recovery efforts across the island through a series of immediate and long-term initiatives to help communities rebuild. Relief work is already underway, with the company pledging fuel support to multiple volunteer teams and foundations conducting missions to the hardest-hit regions, including Food for the Poor, Jamaica Red Cross, Third Wave Volunteers, United for Jamaica, and The Pocket Rocket Foundation. These organizations are delivering food, medical supplies, and emergency assistance to those most in need.
In addition, the company has established a “Fueling Relief” fund, earmarking a portion of its profits to contribute to national recovery initiatives when the country begins the rebuilding phase of its recovery.
Joining forces with its strategic partner Soleco Energy, RUBiS is also supporting the donation of 5,000 solar lanterns to affected communities. The donation will help restore safety in areas still without electricity.
RUBiS Energy Jamaica remains committed to supporting the nation’s restoration efforts and stands with the people of Jamaica as the journey to full recovery continues.
