Students at the Harbour View Primary School in East Kingston are set to benefit from an enhanced school-feeding programme this academic year with contributions from corporate giant, RUBiS Energy Jamaica.
The move is part of the ongoing support being given by the company to schools within the communities of East Kingston.
In addition to the school-feeding programme, the company will be bringing comfort to the administrative staff of the school with the installation of air conditioning units.
Holy Rosary Primary School is also slated to benefit with the construction of a bus shed.
In making the disclosure of these projects at a back-to-school event organised by the company at St. Benedict’s Primary School last Saturday (August 31), RUBiS’ Corporate Social Responsibility Lead, Siona Palmer, said that the company will invest approximately $3.5million to have them completed.
“We firmly believe that developing the local communities is a key priority. Education is one of our focus areas, as we aim to have a meaningful impact on the students and teachers who are shaping the future. To this end, we are always happy to partner with the schools to assist with their needs or challenges,” she said.
During the event, 150 students from several schools in East Kingston participated in a day full of fun.
The schools included St. Benedict’s Primary School, Harbour View Primary School, Adastra Gardens Basic School, Holy Rosary Primary School and St. Boniface Early Childhood Development Centre.
RUBiS branded supplies and over 100 book vouchers valued up to $10,000 were handed out.
RUBiS also partnered with Caribbean Cement Company Limited.
