Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Jamaica, Sergey Petrovich, began his tenure here at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic which made it very difficult to be effective.

He was practically housebound at the embassy located in Norbrook, St Andrew.

Since then he has made his impression felt and one can see why he is a diplomat of thirty years experience.

His Jamaican assignment sees him for the first time outside the Western Hemisphere, an avowed European operating in the Caribbean, Ambassador Petrovich is a poised, educated man.

In this Our Today interview he talks about his tenure in Jamaica and how Russians see the country as the ‘island of eternal summer’.
