Sagicor Foundation Jamaica has announced a J$2.5 million donation to the Father Ho Lung and Friends Foundation, in support of the theatrical production, ‘Jesus 2025’, a remount of the 2000 production of the same name.

The production also marks the revival of a beloved performance that has captivated audiences, while funding critical social support services for the nation’s most vulnerable. A launch event was held for the production on September 5.

Presented by Father Ho Lung and Friends, Jesus 2025 is a theatrical event celebrating faith, service, and community. The group’s musical productions, which started nearly 40 years ago as a small concert, have grown into nationally celebrated performances, supporting the Missionaries of the Poor and eight care homes mainly in downtown Kingston.

“Running these homes is a costly, year-round responsibility,” said Nicole Campbell Robinson, vice president of corporate social responsibility at Sagicor Group Jamaica, while speaking at the launch event. “Each ticket, every performance, and every donation directly helps to keep the homes open, ensuring residents have food, medicine, and safe living spaces. We are proud to stand with Father Ho Lung and his team in their mission to serve those most in need.”

This year’s donation builds on a longstanding partnership. Earlier in 2025, proceeds from the Sagicor Sigma Corporate Run helped contribute J$30 million to repair the roof of the Bethlehem Home–one of the key facilities operated by the foundation. That project is slated for completion before the end of 2025.

In his remarks at the recent gala launch, Father Richard Ho Lung expressed deep gratitude: “We thank Sagicor for being generous, not only with money, but with heart. Without organisations like Sagicor, the poor, the destitute, and the homeless would find it more difficult to survive could not survive.”

The Father Ho Lung and Friends Foundation helps to raise funds for the homes operated by the Missionaries of the Poor, which care for hundreds of residents, including children, adults, and the elderly, offering shelter, food, medical care, and a sense of belonging.

Meanwhile, chairman of the Sagicor Foundation, Christopher Zacca, says, “We have all seen first-hand the difference the work of Father Ho Lung, the brothers of the Missionaries of the Poor and the Foundation’s countless volunteers make in people’s lives.  This is why we are proud to continue our support of their mission because of the meaningful and sustainable impact they create for some of the most vulnerable members of our society.”

The production will run at the National Arena in Kingston, with gala shows beginning September 27 and continuing through October 5.

Specially priced school shows are also scheduled between September 24 and October 3, offering primary and high school students the chance to experience this powerful message of faith and compassion.
