The volunteers were mobilised as part of Volunteer Week initiatives across the Caribbean and Latin America.

Each year, Unicomer Volunteer Week enables the staff of various brands to combine efforts to identify and execute projects to improve the lives of the communities they serve. This year, 100 volunteers were split into two groups to cover projects in Kingston and St Catherine.

“While the company is centred on business, as a family and as human beings we are considerate of those less fortunate around us. We partnered with organisations that consistently work for the betterment of marginalised populations to bolster their efforts and provide some encouragement. We are proud of the work being done by both the Salvation Army and Mustard Seed Communities and so we came on board to further strengthen their efforts” explained Edwin Vaquerano, managing director, Unicomer Group.

Darcy Tulloch Williams, executive director of Mustard Seed Communities, shared: “Unicomer has been a longtime friend of Mustard Seed Communities and, over the years, we have combined efforts to complete many projects. We are elated to have them back as partners and look forward to many more years of continued purpose-driven work.”

Said Major Hery Leconte: “It is always good when we can welcome our corporate partners to assist, I am grateful to Unicomer and the team of volunteers for choosing to share with the less fortunate”

Volunteer Week is executed in the 24 countries where Unicomer Group operates and involves more than 2,000 volunteers annually. Unicomer remains committed to touching the lives of thousands through its various corporate social responsibility initiatives in education, sports and health.
