Samuda reigns in St Ann North Eastern by-election

The Electoral Office of Jamaica (EOJ) has declared Senator Matthew Samuda the victor in the St Ann North Eastern by-election following the final ballot count from the Wednesday, October 2 poll.

The final tally revealed a voter turnout of 11.7 per cent, with the candidates receiving the following votes:

  • David Anderson (Independent): 216 votes
  • Chase Neil (UIC): 31 votes
  • Matthew Samuda (JLP): 4,820 votes

Following the completion of the count, the returning officer has seven days to submit the official report and election documents to the Director of Elections, per the Representation of the People Act.
