Sashi music festival is set to make a return to Ocho Rios in 2024, from May 23 – 26.

Sashi is more than a music festival; it’s a movement aimed at fostering community development, economic empowerment, and highlighting Jamaica’s creative industry.

Led by founder Horatio Hamilton, the Sashi team is committed to harnessing the festival’s influence for positive change. At the core of their mission is a dedication to uplifting local communities and contributing to the economic empowerment of Jamaicans. Recognising the creative industry as a vital asset to Jamaica’s cultural identity, Sashi will spearhead initiatives to create opportunities within the industry.

One of the hallmarks of the Sashi festival is its fashion show. Sashi is on a mission to discover and showcase the next generation of Jamaican designers. The top two designers from every parish will have a unique opportunity to showcase their pieces, attracting global attention from buyers, funding agencies, and potential customers eager to witness the innovation and creativity emerging from Jamaica’s vibrant fashion scene.

Sashi is also embarking on an islandwide talent search to unearth hidden gems within the creative industry. This initiative goes beyond finding designers; it’s about providing a platform for talented individuals to shine. The talent search aligns with Hamilton’s vision of giving back to the community and steering young people away from potential pitfalls. Through this effort, Sashi aims to nurture talent, instill hope, and pave the way for a brighter future.

Hamilton underscored his commitment to the festival’s transformative role: “Sashi is more than a music festival; it’s a movement. We want to channel our energy and resources into building a future where young people have opportunities to thrive in the creative industry. It’s about redirecting paths and providing alternatives to a life that might lead them astray.”

As the countdown to the Sashi festival begins, anticipation and excitement are building not only for the musical performances but also for the positive impact the festival promises on community development, economic empowerment, and the future of Jamaica’s creative talents. Sashi 2024 is set to be more than an event; it’s a celebration of culture, community, and creativity.
