Scotia Group Jamaica Limited received six awards at the 20th Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE) Best Practices Awards held on December 3, 2024.

Scotia walked away with the coveted Governor General’s Award for Excellence, Corporate Disclosure and Investor Relations Award (Main Market) and the PSOJ/JSE Corporate Governance Award (Main Market). The Group was also the second runner-up member dealer for Investor Relations and Website for their Scotia Investments Jamaica Limited subsidiary.

The JSE also recognised Scotia Group President and CEO Audrey Tugwell Henry with an award for Leadership and Sterling Contribution to the business and financial sector.

Since assuming leadership in January 2021, Tugwell Henry has led the organisation to achieve strong results year over year consecutively. Remarking on the awards, Tugwell Henry stated, “Scotiabank continues to distinguish itself as best in class, having served Jamaica for 135 years. We are pleased to receive these awards which honour best practice in governance and conduct. We are especially proud of the recognition by the JSE, which we consider to be a standard-bearer for excellence.”

The JSE is the principal stock exchange of Jamaica comprising multiple markets: Main Market, Junior Market, USD Market, Bond Market, and Private Market. It is also recognised as one of the most sector-diverse exchanges in the Caribbean including banking and finance, retail, manufacturing, insurance, leisure, communications, conglomerates, services, and real estate.

JSE established the Best Practices Awards in 2004 and hosts the event annually in December. There are six categories for which businesses are awarded — annual report, best-performing company, corporate disclosure and investor relations, PSOJ/JSE Award for corporate governance, website, and investor relations.
