Scotiabank condemns the recent break-in involving the ATM servicing room at its Portmore branch over the weekend. The incident is a direct attack not only on the Bank’s operations, but it also affects the service and reliability Scotiabank has worked diligently to build over the years.

This latest break-in follows a series of criminal attacks targeting the financial sector, including incidents involving other ATM networks and cash-in-transit personnel. The Bank is cooperating with law enforcement authorities as investigations into the matter continue.

In recent years, the Bank has continued to make substantial investments in upgrading its ATMs, and the repeated incidents of vandalism highlight the need for ongoing collaboration among financial institutions, law enforcement agencies and other stakeholders to combat criminal activity and safeguard critical financial infrastructure.

Efforts to restore ATM services at the Portmore location as quickly as possible are underway. Clients are also encouraged to use other Scotiabank ATM locations to conduct their business or access services via its digital banking platforms.
