American singer Kisean ‘Sean Kingston’ Anderson was apprehended in California on Thursday, 23 May, following a police raid at his Florida residence during which his mother was also taken into custody.

Kingston faced accusations in February from a company alleging he refused to settle payments for a TV and sound system. He was detained in southern California, and charged with fraud and theft per a Florida warrant. His mother, Janice Turner, was also arrested.

The company asserts that Kingston persuaded them to provide products with minimal down payment, making “numerous false representations.” They also claim he suggested recruiting Justin Bieber to create promotional videos for the company.

Kingston addressed the situation on his Instagram, assuring his followers that his lawyers were “handling everything.” Officers were reportedly seen removing items from his house afterwards.

In response to the news of his mother’s detainment, Kingston posted on Instagram: “People love negative energy! I am good and so is my mother. My lawyers are handling everything as we speak.”
