Securys has backed the NCB Building A Better Jamaica Fund with its advocacy and monetary contributions.
The global data protection firm is urging corporate Jamaica and the wider public to continue supporting the relief fund, which provides assistance to Jamaicans still reeling from the effects of Hurricane Beryl.
Securys recently contributed $500,000 to the NCB Building A Better Jamaica Fund, which remained open even after surpassing its initial $150-million goal, thanks to a rapid and generous response from the private sector.

“We couldnʼt stand by and do nothing,ˮ said Junior Darrell, head of commercial operations at Securys.
“How could we know that our brothers and sisters in St Elizabeth — the very hands that feed us as Jamaica’s breadbasket parish — are suffering, and not feel compelled to help? When the call to action came, we knew we had to be involved.ˮ
Securys Sales and Marketing Executive Janice McLeod said the donation is a way of giving back to an organisation that assisted them in their respective personal journeys, noting that she is a two-time past beneficiary of NCB Foundation and Darrell began his professional career at the bank. This made their donation a no-brainer.
“Weʼre now in a position to give to a space we know that we can trust,ˮ she said. “They have good governance, so we know that once we give this donation, it will go where it needs to go.ˮ
Darrell encouraged all Jamaicans to find ways in which they may support victims of Hurricane Beryl.
“I commend all donors, large and small. Corporate Jamaica, the Diaspora and everyday Jamaicans have really come together,ˮ he said. “There is still more to be done and we urge everyone to do whatever they can to assist.ˮ
Sheree Martin, CEO of NCB Foundation, echoed similar sentiments, praising the contributions from both companies and citizens.
“The Building A Better Jamaica Fund represents our initial step in showing that NCB, through both the Foundation and the bankʼs initiatives, is deeply committed to contributing to Jamaica’s recovery and overall success,” she said.
NCBʼs recovery and rebuilding efforts will be carried out by organisations with the necessary expertise and resources, including Breds Treasure Beach Foundation, Food for the Poor, the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management, the American Friends of Jamaica, Global Empowerment Mission and the Jamaica Social Stock Exchange.
