Senator Delano Seiveright has suspended his campaign in North Central St Andrew after gaining momentous traction and support from the constituency.
Seiveright stated that while the momentum has been incredible, the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) has acknowledged that it has become a distraction and is giving space to those who seek to create division and confusion. “That is not our mission; we remain committed to unity, discipline and focus, especially as we work toward a third term that will benefit every Jamaican, young and old, from every walk of life,” he said.
He expressed that this pause allows the party, including every delegate and every worker, the breathing room to help determine the future of North Central St Andrew, a constituency that has been ably led by Karl Samuda.
“To the people of North Central St Andrew, we are still here for you. This is our home; our commitment to your well-being, progress, and empowerment does not change. Let us thank our leader, Hon. Dr Andrew Holness, who has shown remarkable judgement, restraint and still leadership throughout this entire process. He is an inspirational leader.
“He achieved the impossible, a rare gem who encouraged me and many others to think and dream big, no matter our age, no matter our circumstances. He has allowed Labourites to engage, exchange ideas, and reflect not just on our constituency but on the path forward for our country,” Seiveright continued.
He also stated that this pause is about staying focused on the bigger picture, which is ensuring the party is united, disciplined and ready for the work ahead.
Seiveright expressed gratitude for the support, encouragement and positive energy he received throughout the campaign while also acknowledging the work and extensive effort of the prime minister in leading the JLP. “Let us never forget that [Holness] is leading the JLP through its most impactful and successful era in our 82-year history despite incredible odds. My friends, we must give him our full support as he continues to lead us with purpose, clarity, and vision for the good of the party and, more importantly, for the good of Jamaica,” he added.
