Though Harrison Memorial Holistic Centre has been a haven for the elderly in Jamaica for the past two decades, the Kingston-based retirement home requires extensive renovations to keep its residents safe and comfortable. Thanks to a $250,000 donation from the NCB Foundation’s 2022 Grant a Wish programme, work on these improvements is set to begin in short order.

Blondell Caines, administrator of the Harrison Memorial Holistic Care Centre, shared: “This donation will go toward restoring the roof of the house, and getting fans to cool the place down as it can get very hot in the days.”

Caine further noted that they are desirous of further modernising the home to increase the comfort of their existing and prospective residents.

“I have no doubt that the NCB Foundation’s gift will be put to good use in making life more pleasant for the retirees here.”

“I have no doubt that the NCB Foundation’s gift will be put to good use in making life more pleasant for the retirees here.”

Harrison Memorial Holistic Centre was selected for Pairman’s Director’s Pick award in this year’s Grant a Wish programme.

This year, the NCB Foundation invited Jamaicans to participate in the Grant A Wish Programme by nominating and voting for teachers, formal educators and community heroes leading education-based programmes. Successful nominees will receive a share of $15 million in cash and tech devices.
