American television host Seth Adam Meyers called out U.S President Donald Trump, Senator Josh Hawley, Senator Ted Cruz and “the rest of the seditious caucus” to be removed from office following the unlawful storming of the U.S. Capitol in Washington DC on January 6, 2021.

Meyers hosts Late Night with Seth Meyers on NBC and previously was a cast member and lead writer for Saturday Night Live, also on NBC.

During his ‘Closer Look’ segment on Thursday, he addressed the storming of the Capitol.

“Why isn’t Congress immediately convening to remove the leader of a violent insurrectionist movement from the presidency? He’s an urgent national security threat,” Meyers said.

“Thankfully, Democratic leaders and many Republicans have now started to announce their support for Trump’s immediate removal from office, but it’s not just Trump. Today, he was cheered by the RNC and, even after yesterday’s events at the Capitol, the majority of House Republicans and several GOP senators doubled down on their attempt to throw out the results of the presidential election.”

Hawley, from Missouri, and Cruz, from Texas, are the main Republicans who refused to give up on the overturning of the election results.

Meyers stated that not only should they be “expelled from congress”, they should also be “shamed and disgraced”.

“They should be remembered in history forever as seditionists who attempted a coup and, in Cruz’s case, he should also be remembered for looking like an alcoholic werewolf who got stuck halfway between transformations.”

At a rally in DC on Wednesday, Rudy Giuliani, Trump’s lawyer, called for a “trial by combat”, a clear call to action.

Five people, including a police officer, have now been reported dead in the aftermath of the storming of the Capitol.

Senators’ office were also left in disarray.

“There have been violent insurrections in this country before and, without consequences, it’s gonna happen again, that’s why the people responsible for this must be held accountable from the top down. They should be removed from the White House and expelled from Congress.”

Congress reconvened hours after the chaos to affirm the electoral college votes and Joe Biden’s victory.

“There have been violent insurrections in this country before and, without consequences, it’s gonna happen again, that’s why the people responsible for this must be held accountable from the top down. They should be removed from the White House and expelled from Congress,” said Meyers.
