Shark attack in St Kitts & Nevis

At least one person is reported to have been injured during a shark attack in St Kitts and Nevis.

According to the Antigua Observer, the rare shark attack took place near Booby Island, an uninhabited island located between St Kitts and Nevis.

The report states that a group of people were using a kayak to get to Booby Island. On arrival, they went swimming, after which one woman was attacked by a shark.

The woman sustained significant injuries to one leg. She was transferred to the Alexandra Hospital where she underwent emergency surgery.

It was reported, but not confirmed, that surgeons had to amputate her leg above the knee.
