Three-time Olympic champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce on Tuesday (July 16), opted out of the women’s 100m race at the Spitzen Leichtathletik Luzern in Switzerland after she ‘felt something’ during pre-race warm-ups.
Luzern should have been Fraser-Pryce’s first international race of the season and was meant to be one of her final stops before the Olympics in Paris 2024 later this year.
This Olympics will be the fifth appearance for Fraser-Pryce where she will be focused on only the 100m.
New Zealand’s Zoe Hobbs clocked the fastest time of the day in Luzern at 11.17 seconds, while Swiss athlete Mujinga Kambundji went 11.20s to win her heat and finish second overall.
