The best sprint queen the world has ever seen, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce took to the field, not at an international track meet, but at her son Zyon school’s sporting day in St Andrew.

She lined up against other mums at the school in the special event and aced it- not holding back or making any concessions to the other mums. With grit and determination but with a beaming smile on her face, she yet again showed how it is done.

It was a fantastic day on Friday and the school’s principal did a wonderful job at the annual event which saw a tremendous turnout.

Fraser-Pryce, who swept all before her last year, was gracious yesterday, taking pics with parents and kids and was giving of her time. She was just like any other mum and it said a lot about her character and the kind of person she is. People were respectful of her and were not intrusive. It was truly wonderful to see. Celebrity has its place in Jamaica and people are not as obsessive as in many ‘first-world’ countries.

Shelly-Ann took a keen interest in her son Zyon’s race and she may have wondered whether he would exhibit the talents she is renowned for.

Shelly-Ann, you are a diamond.
