Reigning world champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce continues an amazing run of form this season, with another blistering win today (August 10) at the Wanda Diamond League meet in Monaco.
Fraser-Pryce, running out of lane five, stopped the clock at 10.62 seconds—shattering the 24-year-old meet record held by Marion Jones (10.72s) back in August 1998.
The effervescent ‘Mommy Rocket’ powered past compatriot Shericka Jackson and Ivorian Marie-Josée Ta Lou, who claimed second and third places in 10.71s (a new personal best) and 10.72s (a new African record).
It is Fraser-Pryce’s sixth sub-10.7 clocking this year, having run 10.66s just last Saturday at the Stadion Slaski in Chorzów, Poland.
The 100m winner at the World Championships is currently third in the race for the Diamond League trophy on 16 points behind Ta Lou (22) and Jackson (20).
