Two years after its release, Shenseea’s hit song Blessed, which features American rapper Tyga, has achieved gold status in Canada.
The Deserve It singjay over the weekend announced the news of the song’s success via her verified Instagram account.
“Blessed went GOLD in Canada…Thank you to everyone who listened and played!” she wrote.
The rising international artiste, posted a gallery of photos as she celebrated. One photo in particular, shows the artiste holding the plaque she received from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
Marking the first of two collaborations between the pair, the track was released back in 2019 and two years later it was added as the 14th track to the singer’s debut album, ALPHA.
With an accompanying music video set on the sands of Jamaica, Blessed is one in which the singjay assertively lets those listening know she is the best in the game and also how ‘blessed’ she is.
The track was produced by Theron of the musical duo R City, Jamaican Grammy Award Winning music producer, singer, and songwriter Stephen David McGregor, American songwriter Sean Small, songwriter Sam Sumser and Jamaican record producer Rvssian.
Gold, an award given by the RIAA, represents huge sales, and translates to 500,000 purchases of the song, which would have begun upon its release on May 22, 2019.
Taking to the comment section, the Jamaican native added: “Canada got a special place in my heart ❤️.”
A few local and international celebrities showed their love in the DJ’s comment section including manager Romeich Major, Ding Dong, Shaneil Muir and Tarrus Riley.
Scottish DJ Calvin Harris also commented with fire emojis.
