Jamaican sprinter Elaine Thompson-Herah may have just secured her name in the history books as one of the greatest female athletes of all time, but she didn’t accomplish this feat all on her own.
After becoming the first woman to achieve a sprint ‘double-double’, having secured consecutive gold medals in both the 100m and 200m at the Rio and Tokyo Olympic Games, Thompson-Herah in a post-race interview with Television Jamaica, noted that among the many people who had contributed to her Olympic win was dancehall artiste Shenseea.

She stated: “While I was out there, I heard Shenseea’s song in my head, just run, run, run and I just keep on running until I reached to the (finish) line.”
Shenseea responded to Thompson-Herah’s admission in an Instagram post earlier today (August 3), expressing her happiness that the track had motivated her to achieve greatness.
Shenseea noted: “@fastelaine This is such a hysterical moment and I’m happy to be a part of what motivates you! i watched the full interview, I love to see our Jamaican women so WELL SPOKEN!!! 😭”.
She added: “Y’all KNEW this would be my favourite part though 😂 CONGRATS man 🍾 #RunRunRun was just what you did! PROUD! 🇯🇲”.

Leading up to the Olympic Games, post the track’s release, Shenseea had tweeted to the Jamaican athletes to “Run Run Run”, a message that clearly resonated with Thompson-Herah.
