Shenseea, Koffee achieve major wins with best-selling reggae albums in the US for 2022

Popular dancehall artiste Shenseea and reggae superstar Koffee both secured spots for best-selling albums on Billboard’s Year-End Reggae Album Charts for 2022.

Shenseea’s album, Alpha, which was released on March 11, sold a total of 60,000 units and was the most streamed project by the international reggae artiste this year, according to World Music Views.

The album, released by Rich Immigrants and Interscope Records, was listed at number 12 for the year.

Shenseea’s hit single Blessed, which features American rapper Tyga, was certified gold in Canada after selling 40,000 units in the country according to World Music Views.

The album also features veteran dancehall artiste Beenie Man, Sean Paul, American rappers Megan Thee Stallion and Offset, among others.

Koffee’s album, Gifted, which was released on March 25 by Promised Land Recordings, sold 223,000 units in the US, according to an article published by World Music Views.

Gifted was ranked at number eight on the list and featured popular hit singles such as Lockdown, West Indies and Pull Up.

During the first week of April, the album peaked at number two on the reggae charts, selling 3,500 units World Music Views outlined.

Since Koffee’s arrival on the music scene, she has garnered significant support, both locally and internationally.

Koffee’s single, Pull Up, was also featured on former United States President Barack Obama’s list of his favourite songs for the year.
