Jamaican dancehall artiste Shenseea, as promised, is showing signs of moving away from dancehall with the release of her latest single featuring rapper 21 Savage.
In her first collaborative effort with Savage, both artistes propose their wants and desires from their romantic partners, while highlighting their wants and needs in a healthy relationship fit to their aesthetic.
Dropping on Valentine’s night (February 14), R U That is the fourth track from the Shenseea’s upcoming debut album, Alpha, which is set to be released on March 11.
The hip hop/R&B track, has no hint of the Good Comfort singer’s signature Jamaican dancehall style.

Containing arguably better lyrical content than her previous single, Lick, the track asks a a series of questions on the track, which is geared toward trying to get an understanding of the type of man her male interest is.
On the cover art for the track, Shenseea is seen in a plunge pool with silver accessories on her breasts, neck, wrist, finger, shoulder and arm. The nearly-naked songstress also has her hair cornrowed with the ends in an ‘up do’ style, seemingly frozen by the cold weather.
On Sunday (February 15), Shenseea attended the Super Bowl LVI decked out in matching blue tights, blue jacket, thigh high boots as well as a black and blue off the shoulder top.

While there, the DJ started an Instagram LIVE where she announced the release of the song, pinning the caption, “Gonna drop another song, just because Featuring 21 Savage. This is the 4th installment on Shenseea’s debut album, ALPHA, which will be released on March 11th, 2022.”
Many fans have commented on the track, commending the artiste on her ability to perform different genres of music.
@Lan Long said: “I love Shen’s diversity, her ability to switch up her sound will help her to reach an even wider audience and achieve greater success. Love her man and so proud of how far she’s come ❤️😩 forever a shenyeng 🐉 .”
Another fan, @gullyscoundrel, commented: “Much Better, I see this as the real lead single off the Album. I see both locals and foreigners vibing to this. This will have a vibe going aver into the summer. Definitely Billboard Quality!”

While the comments on YouTube have been rather positive, with fans lauding her versatility, unmatched talent and the fact that she released the single on Valentine’s Day, on Instagram, the single seems to have been met with mixed reviews.

Many commented multiple fire emojis under the DJ’s post, while others expressed their delight with the fact that the single sounded better than her previous track, Lick, which was met with much disappointment.
@bodgyalnessia_ said: “I am sad this song not shenseing the was it’s supoosed to 😒… . “
@flyboi_swagg said: “Wayyy better than Lick, this should been first single. I’m a fan now lol I see what everybody else see now.”

The release of this song featuring the A Lot rapper appears to be another in her series of attempts to solidify her international brand.
Last year the singjay signed to American manager Wassim Sal Salby, who also manages Brandy, The Weeknd and Doja Cat.
She was also spotted at Kanye West’s Donda 2 listening party, where she was seen chatting with Bajan singer and entrepreneur, Rihanna. The artiste was also featured on West’s Donda album and featured Meg Thee Stallion on Lick.
Upon leaving the event, the The Side Chick Song DJ was seen holding hands with 21 Savage, which sparked rumours of a possible courtship between the two. However, she has since addressed the matter in the Shade Room’s comment section.
“Maaaaayneee! He held my hand to save me from fallin man cho! 😒 .”
