Jamaican artiste Shenseea releases her new album ‘Never Gets Late Here’ on 24 May, debuting at number one on the reggae iTunes charts to much fanfare and excitement.

‘Never Gets Late Here’ arrives slightly over two years after Shenseea’s debut album, ‘Alpha’. The fourteen-track list features collaborations with dancehall artist Masicka, renowned Jamaican producer Di Genius, American rapper Coi Leray, Brazilian singer Anitta, and Nigerian superstar Wizkid. With famed American producer London on Da Track as the executive producer, the match-up promises to deliver timeless hits.

‘Work Me Out’ featuring Wizkid has reached number one on the Nigerian iTunes chart, marking her first number one on the Nigerian charts.

Shenseea seemingly had a very global approach when developing this album, with each song offering a unique listening experience—a lively blend of rhythms and genres that reflect Shenseea’s fresh approach with this album.

The album begins with a fitting introduction, ‘Face Lift’, featuring her son Rajeiro Lee. The lyrics set the tone for the entire body of work, with an excerpt from the verse including the lines:

“A go get everything mi pray for

Nah go mek nobody get di best a me

I’m always gon’ protect my energy

I know my thoughts are my only enemy, they be testin’ me

I hold on to affirmations

Don’t stress about it if you can’t control it,”

Throughout the promo for ‘Never Gets Late Here’, Shenseea can be seen riding or posing with a dragon. She stated in an interview with Billboard, “It’s just like me coming back stronger than ever because I’ve been through a lot for the past two years. I’m going to be riding a dragon…”

Regarding the album’s title, she explained, “It means to me, timeless music. You can put on this album, and it just never gets old. You know, it’s pretty deep. And I love timeless music. That’s the type of music that I grew up on.”

Shenseea’s ‘Never Gets Late Here’ promises to be a feast for listeners with a rounded appetite for dancehall music.
