
Jamaican sprinter Shericka Jackson delivered an exceptional performance of 21.48s in the women’s 200m final of the Diamond League race in Brussels.
Jackson’s victory was not only impressive in its speed but also in its dominance. The 29-year-old athlete stormed down the track, seized her lead early on and maintained her form throughout the race.
She managed to eclipse the meet record by over 0.16 seconds, just .07 seconds shy of her personal best time ever and .14 seconds shy of tying with Florence Griffith-Joyner’s (Flo-Jo) record of 21.34.
In the race, Jackson was trailed by Anthonique Strachan from The Bahamas, who managed to secure second place, over half a second behind with a time of 22.31 seconds. The USA’s Jenna Prandini claimed the third position with a time of 22.47 seconds, while Great Britain’s Daryll Neita finished fourth with a time of 22.59 seconds. Maboundou Koné of Côte d’Ivoire and Tasa Jiya from the Netherlands rounded off the top six.
