2021 has truly been the year of unexpected drama for both local and international celebrities playing the make-up and break-up game.
‘No love allowed’ they say.
The relationship between the King of Dancehall, Beenie Man and public figure Krystal Tomlinson came to an end on January 18.
The popular Jamaican couple, parents of two-year-old Xiah Amina Davis, took to Instagram, confirming that they were each newly single, breaking the hearts of many and confirming what haters were waiting for all along.
It was exactly a month and a day later that a similar revelation came from one of the most high profile celebrity couples in the world, when it was announced that reality TV star, human rights activist and attorney-in-waiting Kim Kardashian had filed for divorce from hip hop and fashion icon Kanye West.

The unexpected couple started dating in 2012, got married in 2014, and in 2019 renewed vows to mark five years together.
Now, nine years on, and with four children brought into the world, their relationship appears to have reached a point of no return.
Kanye has been mostly out of the public eye since, watching his multibillion-dollar net worth skyrocket while Kim has been very active on social media and turning up at events where she seems to be moving on quite comfortably with her life. Not to mention, she has also become a billionaire since deciding to divorce her husband too – and there hasn’t even been a financial settlement yet.
If anyone were to think Kim and Kanye’s split would be the biggest celebrity break up of the year, Hustlers actress Jennifer Lopez and former New
York Yankees baseball star, Alex Rodriguez might give them a run for their money.

After rumours of a pending break up earlier in the year, the couple just last week announced they were ending their four-year engagement after realising they were better off as friends.
The couple allegedly called it quits after recent rumours linking Rodriguez
with one of the stars of TV reality show Southern Charm.
J.Lo, at 51 and with US$400 million in the bank, was probably hoping to be off the market for good after three failed marriages since 1997 and several high profile relationships that fizzled.
For younger celebrity watchers, the most shocking of this year’s break up list is the separation between Diamonté Harper, best known as Saweetie, and Quavious Marshall, also known as Quavo and a member of rap trio Migos.

The couple broke up officially on March 19 after a two-year relationship, that had lovers of love celebrating their public displays of affection.
Disillusioned fans took to social media where they expressed grave concern over the idea of ‘love’ since the celebrity couple had been seen as ‘relationship goals’.
The Back to the Streets singer simply shared a tweet in an effort to end ‘this chapter’ of her life by saying: “I’ve endured too much betrayal and hurt behind the scenes for a false narrative to be circulating that degrades my character. Presents don’t band aid scars and the love isn’t real when
the intimacy is given to other women”, in a hint that infidelity was the reason behind the break-up.
Days later, fans were left further traumatised over Quavo and Saweetie’s ‘love fiction’ when they watched with jaws dropped a surveillance video of a physical altercation between the two.
With Quavo just 30 and Saweetie 27, these two should learn from this experience and see how best they can bring their better selves to future relationships.
Local suspicions…
While local entertainers such as Shenseea, Popcaan and Koffee have not confirmed their relationship statuses, rumours are circulating that they are indeed single.
Though they might have a ‘boy toy’ or ‘peng ting’ or two on the side, these celebrities have made no mention of officially dating.
Therefore, free range to send in your dating applications or shoot your shot?
Ha ha, maybe not.
The aforementioned couples might be single, but who knows if they’re ready to seriously mingle.
As Meghan Thee Stallion said, “it’s hot girls’ summer” and these celebs are definitely back to the streets. Trina would be proud!
