Professor Sir Hilary Beckles, vice-chancellor of the University of the West Indies (The UWI) has issued a video message of solidarity to the people of St Vincent and the Grenadines who are currently suffering throught the explosive eruptions of the La Soufriere volcano there.

In his message, Sir Hilary declared his belief that St Vincent the Grenadines will “erupt from the dust” of this crisis and return to glory.

“With help from old friends and the support of new allies it will be resilient and it shall thrive once again,” Sir Hilary said in his message, which focused heavily on the strength of that nation and its close relationship with its Caribbean neighbours.
