Hairdressers, nail technicians, wholesalers, and other businesspersons in rural Jamaica have been ‘ticked blue’ with the introduction of high-speed internet service in their communities, courtesy of Flow Business.

The communications and entertainment provider recently rolled out its improved services and products to business operators in Spalding and May Pen in Clarendon as well as Linstead, St Catherine, through a series of exciting events.

Among the individuals enjoying the improved service so far is Tashane Reid, a supervisor at Mas Ken Wholesale, who uses the internet service to communicate with fellow employees and customers.

“It has been an awesome experience so far. The internet service has been fast and consistent.  It has been great being able to connect with our customers in real-time,” Reid said.

She is just one of the hundreds of business persons in growth centres across the country benefitting from the company’s improved network.

Dwayne Walters, senior manager of partner channels at Flow Business, explained that the company has been focused on the build-out of its network in unserved and underserved areas in a bid to provide the best service and products islandwide.

He added that the company has been working with various stakeholders including community members and government agencies to ensure a seamless process.

“With this fibre build-out, customers are able to get blazing speed internet; so they can stay connected to their suppliers and take full advantage of the type of services required for businesses to strive and compete,” Walters shared.

Over the last 36 months, Flow has invested over US$300 million to expand its fibre optic network across the country, with a special emphasis on rural areas. Through the improved network, Flow Business has been able to offer rural entrepreneurs faster internet speeds previously only experienced in urban areas.

“The micro-, small- and medium-sized business sector is the lifeblood of the economy and employs the most persons islandwide. We, therefore, remain committed to providing the right kinds of technology solutions and at the right price point to suit all our customers, regardless of where they are located,” Walters added.

Since the start of the year, Flow has upgraded the internet speeds available in rural communities across the country.
