With more than 80 per cent of its services online, the Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) is urging small and medium-sized tourism enterprises to take advantage of this option to increase efficiency.

TAJ deputy commissioner general Dave Jeffery noted that the process is safe, convenient, and secure, saving entrepreneurs from the hassle of joining long lines at tax offices.

He added that the online services can also assist businesses to become and remain compliant.

“Our strategic direction, for the past few years, has been to increase the ease of doing business with our customers. As such, we have steadily been increasing our digital reach and expanding our e-services and our e-options. We, therefore, invite you to get digital and do your business with us online,” he urged.

Jeffery was speaking at a recent business development information session hosted by the Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF).

He shared that through the use of the TAJ’s online services, businesses can generate a statement of account, get zero-rated approval, make payments, and view their payment history. Additionally, businesses can apply for a Tax Registration Number (TRN) or a Tax Compliance Certificate (TCC).

Customers can also pay their taxes online through the TAJ website, mobile app, or through direct bank transfers.

The TAJ administers all domestic taxes, operates as the country’s premier revenue collecting agency, and is responsible for processing several government documents, such as TRN, TCC, and driver’s licences.
