The Smirnoff GenXS INFINITY Season Launch at Terra Nova was less a launch and more a declaration of where Jamaica Carnival is heading.

Bigger, more regional, and far more intentional.

At the centre of that shift is Machel Montano, the most dominant figure in Soca music, returning to the road after securing his 12th Road March title in Trinidad. His placement at the front of the GenXS experience, powered by KFC Jamaica, signals a deliberate move to anchor Jamaica’s road experience at the highest level of Caribbean Carnival.

Rather than relying solely on Trinidad’s influence, GenXS has reached into Grenada and brought forward Little Kerry and Muddy to headline Smirnoff Immortals J’Ouvert, introducing a sound that is currently defining early-morning road culture across the region. Grenada’s Jab Jab is setting a new standard for J’Ouvert experiences regionally.

Little Kerry’s “Bury All” has emerged as one of the season’s most dominant J’Ouvert records, built for high-energy, paint-driven revelry. Alongside him, Muddy, who performed at the launch, brings “Payroll”, a track that continues to command traction across multiple Carnival territories.

This is a calculated shift. GenXS is not following the market, it is helping to reshape it. That shift is being reinforced through its title partnership with Smirnoff, which is playing a central role in defining the commercial and experiential layer of the band. Through the Red Stripe portfolio, GenXS is delivering a controlled premium environment across the road, where the bar offering becomes part of the product. Patrons will engage with a curated selection that includes Smirnoff cocktails, Rum Stripe, Casamigos, Johnnie Walker and Don Julio, reflecting a move toward higher-value consumption and more refined expectations from masqueraders.

This is where Carnival is heading. Higher spend, higher expectation, tighter execution.

Sean Wallace, Commercial Director at Red Stripe, indicated that the partnership reflects a broader shift in consumer behaviour, where patrons are seeking more structured, premium experiences rather than purely volume-driven events.

Beyond the experience itself, the economic implications are increasingly difficult to ignore.

Speaking at the launch, Hon. Delano Seiveright, Minister of State in the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce, pointed to the scale of Carnival’s impact, noting that the sector continues to attract significant visitor inflows and spending.

Recent data shows that Carnival in Jamaica generated approximately J$7.7 billion in direct expenditure in 2025, with total economic impact exceeding J$165 billion. Visiting patrons are now spending over US$5,300 per person, positioning Carnival as a high-value tourism driver rather than a niche event.

In that context, GenXS is not simply participating in Carnival. It is operating as a commercial platform within it.

Now in its fourth year in Jamaica and fully Jamaican-owned, GenXS has scaled rapidly, building a structure that integrates regional talent, international brand partnerships and local production.

Kibwe McGann, Sponsorship Director for GenXS, framed the ambition more directly:

“We are building a product that people will travel for, spend on, and come back to. Bringing Machel to the road, pulling Grenadian energy into J’Ouvert, and partnering with Smirnoff to elevate the entire experience is not accidental. It is a deliberate move to position Jamaica Carnival as a premium destination within the region.”

What is emerging is not just growth, but direction. From Immortals J’Ouvert to having the King of Soca, Machel Montano, leading the road experience, the Smirnoff GenXS INFINITY Season Launch confirms that Jamaica Carnival is moving beyond participation and firmly establishing itself as a must-do Carnival experience.
