Patrick Muldoon, the actor widely recognised for his roles in Days of Our Lives and Melrose Place, has died at the age of 57 following a sudden heart attack on Sunday.
Reports say Muldoon had spent the morning at his Beverly Hills home with his partner, Miriam Rothbart, before heading to take a shower. He was later found unconscious on the bathroom floor and pronounced dead after emergency responders arrived at the scene.
Muldoon first rose to fame playing Austin Reed on Days of Our Lives from 1992 to 1995, a role he returned to in 2011. He later gained further attention as Richard Hart on Melrose Place, appearing for three seasons until 1996.
His career also stretched into film, including a role in the 1997 sci-fi hit Starship Troopers directed by Paul Verhoeven. Beyond acting, Muldoon was active in production work and was preparing to produce the upcoming film Kockroach, starring Chris Hemsworth.
He is survived by his partner, Miriam Rothbart, his parents Deanna and Patrick Muldoon Sr., his sister Shana Zappa and brother in law Ahmet Zappa, as well as his niece Halo and nephew Arrow Zappa.
