Support and prayers have been rolling in on social media for Sheldon Shaw, who reportedly shot and killed his 15-year-old-son, Raheem Shaw, early this morning (September 28).

According to a police report from the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), the incident took place about 3:15 am at Hellshire in Portmore, St Catherine.

According to the police report, the family was at home when Sheldon Shaw’s wife said she heard the front gate and grille being opened.

She alerted her husband, a licensed firearm holder, who retrieved his 9mm pistol and went into the living room.

According to Sheldon Shaw, he heard someone opening the door and discharged three rounds of ammunition through the front door.

After firing, he made checks and discovered it was his son, a student at Wolmer’s Boys’ School, who was shot. They then rushed him to the Spanish Town Hospital where the teenager was pronounced dead at 4:38 am.

The licensed firearm was seized by police as the investigation continues.

Shortly after news broke, many fled to Twitter to send their condolences to the family.
