Son Heung-min has taken the decision to leave the north London, EPL club Tottenham Hotspur after ten seasons there.
Son is a club legend and was made club captain by manager Ange Postecoglou who was sacked by Spurs in June.
The South Korean leaves on a high having lifted the Europa Cup trophy after a night of glory in Bilbao in May.
That Europa Cup final win secured Tottenham’s first trophy win in 17 years.
Son and Harry Kane together at Tottenham, formed one of the most successful strike partnerships EPL history.
Reflecting on his time at Spurs and his decision to leave, Son said: “It was a tough decision to leave Spurs. I wish them all the best. There are five competitions ahead and I hope they win all the five competitions. That’s my wish. Spurs will always be in my heart and the boys will always be in my history books. It was incredible.
“They’ve gone so fast, the ten years. I can only think about the beautiful moments, amazing moments.”

Now at 33, it is the right time to take on a new challenge. The word is he may be heading to America’s MLS to play with Los Angeles .
Son joined Tottenham from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015, aged 23. He went on to score 173 goals in 454 appearances. He won the Golden Boot in the 2021/22 season, sharing it that year with Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.
“I need a new environment to push myself. I need a little bit of change-10 years is a long time. I came to north London as a kid, 23 years old, such a young age. I leave this club as a grown man, a very proud man.”
Son wants to feature in next year’ s World Cup which takes place in the United States.
“My most important priority right now is the World Cup. It’s likely to be my last World Cup and I want to give everything I have in that environment.I want to play football happily, which I think will play the biggest role in my future decision-making, I am still trying to organise my thoughts around that,” said Son.
Son is Spurs’ fifth highest all time goal scorer.
New Tottenham manager, Thomas Frank said of Son, “ He is truly a Spurs legend in every respect. One of the best players to ever play in the Premier League in my opinion, as a winger. I think it is probably the perfect timing , going out on a high.”
