Jamaica will host a delegation from the Government of South Africa this week to conduct a study tour of the island’s sports programme.
This announcement was made by Sports Minister Olivia Grange on Monday, November 20.
According to the sports minister, the tour is part of a bilateral agreement between Jamaica and South Africa for cooperation in sport and recreation.
The tour, which commences today, November 21, is a follow-up to the Jamaica/ South Africa consultations last year in which South Africa expressed an interest in better understanding Jamaica’s sports development model.
The tour will include discussions about Jamaica’s sports policy framework, national sporting organisations, anti-doping, facilities management, and sports financing.
It will also facilitate presentations by the Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA), the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA), and visits to the University of Technology Jamaica and the GC Foster College of Physical Education and Sports.
