When Our Today asked Chevannes, what inspired her to start a business in the spa service industry, she answered, “I was bored out of my mind…picked up a copy of UK Vogue and on the cover was a question: ‘Would you like a glamourous career in beauty?’ that piqued my curiosity and that where it all started./”
She described having to go through rigorous training in order to get certified, after which she came back to Jamaica with her passion and drive intact ready to start the very first Spa Aesthetiques.
Spa Aesthetique has since grown to become one of Jamaica’s best Spa’s with trained aestheticians, “we have very qualified medical aesthetician’s on our team,” she said.
Chevannes noted that when starting her business in 1985 that she was confident it would all work out. She said that even if there was an inkling of fear, it funcitoned as a propellant and not an inhibitor toward her success.
When asked how she has given back to the Jamaican community, she replied, “Through Spa Aesthetique, we have given back in many ways over the years…”
From breakfast drives to geriatric spa care, children’s homes, different sponsorships and other donations, Spa Aesthetique has been supporting the community through charitable endeavours. Recently, their main focus has been on the Jamaica Cancer Society (JCS), where they give their biggest donations annually.
