The Island Traffic Authority (ITA) says that today’s (June 5) scheduled meeting underway with public transport groups will now be held at the Half-Way Tree Transportation Centre in St Andrew.

The authority is also clarifying that the afternoon meeting, beginning at 1:00 pm, will only accommodate the leaders of public transport groups and members of the Public Passenger Vehicle Steering Committee.

A previous June 3 release gave the impression that all PPV operators are expected to attend this meeting; however, that is not the case.

Representatives from the ITA, Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), and the Transport Authority will be present to address all questions and concerns regarding the traffic ticketing system to ensure there is continued dialogue and efficient operations in the transport sector.

The meeting seeks to address and clarify misconceptions regarding demerit points under the Road Traffic Act and its regulations.
