Dancehall artiste Spice has shared that she will no longer grace the stage for the 2023 staging of the Groovin In The Park concert scheduled for June 25 in New York.
The ‘Queen of Dancehall’ made the announcement yesterday evening (June 19) in an Instagram post where she apologised to her fans for dropping out of the event.
“I, Grace ‘Spice’ Hamilton, would like to announce with deep regret that I will no longer be performing at Groovin In The Park 2023. For multiple reasons beyond my control, I would like to apologise to all my loyal besties who [were] anticipating seeing me there,” she wrote.
While the artiste did not share her reason for dropping out of the event, she noted that it had nothing to do with the event promoter.
“I personally would like to extend this apology to the event promoter, who was extremely professional during this time. I take full accountability for this decision. I anticipate a great show with the original lineup, and I’m sure it will be a successful event as always,” added the God a Bless Me artiste.
Spice was scheduled to take the stage alongside fellow Jamaicans Marion Hall, Tarrus Riley, Cham, Wayne Wonder, Frisco Kid, and soul singer Charlie “Uncle Charlie” Wilson.
The annual event was postponed for three years due to the COVID-19 pandemic but is said to be back with a bang for its 10th anniversary this year.
