Popular dancehall artiste Spice has responded to the recent backlash surrounding her performance at the 2023 BET Awards on Sunday (June 25).

Spice who is popularly known for her energetic dancehall performances received criticism from some fans who questioned the appropriateness of her signature ‘one leg in the air’ dance move at Sunday’s show.

However, Spice, in a social media post on Monday (June 26) defended her performance noting that the dance move was appropriate for the segment in which she performed.

I see someone comment saying I shouldn’t have done my famous one leg in the air at my BET performance , however this segment was a dancehall segment , so I really want to ask if I shouldn’t have represented the way I did or I should have acted like someone else .
