JTB misses out on being in short list for Tourist Board of the Year

The St Lucia Tourism Authority and Sandals are the Caribbean’s short-listed candidates for awards at this year’s all-new World Travel Industry Awards 2021.

The St Lucia Tourism Authority has been shortlisted among eight destinations globally for the award of ‘Tourist Board of the Year’.

The seven other shortlisted candidates are Israel Tourist Office, Italian National Tourist Board, Malta Tourism Authority, Tourism Australia, Tourism Authority of Thailand, Tourism Western Australia and Visit Florida.

The Jamaica Tourist Board, a regular short listed candidate, did not make it to the short list this year. However, Jamaica did make it onto the short list of Hotel and Resort Operator of the Year in its home bred Sandals, which is among the eight short listed for the top hotel operator award.

The others are AM Resorts, Atmosphere Hotels & Resorts, Cayo Exclusive Resort and Spa, Club Med, OKU Hotels, Sani & Ikos Resorts and Universal Orlando Resort. The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place in London, England on September 30.

The event is sponsored Virgin Atlantic, which will bring the travel community together to celebrate the hotel and leisure businesses that have grown stronger through the COVID-19 crisis and help to highlight the most trusted travel brands for consumers.
