Dancehall entertainer and entrepreneur Stacious began her journey as a restauranteur on Saturday with the opening of her eatery Café Scrumptious on Red Hills Road in Kingston.
The café offers a wide variety of offerings from the traditional ackee and saltfish, fried chicken and stew peas to an assortment of wraps and fast-food options including the unique-sounding jerk chicken spring rolls.
Stacious, who operated a natural juice bar at the location for the past two years, said the decision to expand into food was based on consumer demand.
“I had the juice bar here almost two years now and I just basically expanded to the food section now. I included the food section because people have been asking for food and I just tried to include a lot of options for people; for those who are heavy eaters, and then for somebody who might want something light like a sandwich or a salad, I just wanted to touch on each area,” she said.

According to Stacious where the business is located on Red Hills Road there are a lot of businesses that employ a large number of people who are looking for food options on a daily basis.
“I figured I would cater for them too. They can have breakfast on the go or dine and have breakfast if they are early for work or they can come in for lunch, so I wanted to capture all of that,” she added.
For more than a decade, Stacious, born Stacey Scarlett Bryan, made a name for herself among dancehall fans with songs like Come Into My Room, Fight Back and Falling Down, raised her profile further in July when she won the 2021 Festival Song Competition with her entry, Jamaican Spirit.
In doing so, she became only the fourth woman to win the title in the competition’s 55-year history.
She joined Heather Grant, who won in 1992, Cheryl Clarke in 1999 and Abbygaye Dallas in 2012 as the only women to have won the competition that was first held in 1966.
